________________________________________________________ On Sept. 28th/03, the second annual marathon run/walk with the TNT/Leukemia organizations took place in Toronto.
This year once again, Brain Cormier ran and was joined by a hard trained Phil Paquette. Although I was not able to join these two on the run, I was there at the event to cheer them on.
FUNDRAISER OPEN HOUSE It turned out to be a perfect day for the fundraiser. By the time the fog burned off, the rain stopped, balloons up, Leukemia signs posted, Phil our good friend and ½ marathon runner was down from Godrich to meet and greet, so it was time to get the fundraiser under way. The pool was closing in on 100 degrees, the food was out and ready, but would the most important part of the event take place – the people to show up! Well they did. Some didn’t make it and others showed up that were not anticipated. So the festivities began. Many of the children and a few adults (me included) took a dip into the pool and it felt great. We all eat up the 2 large pot’s of chili and other compliments, as we enjoyed the afternoon. It was mentioned, that like myself, most of these people were "talkers" and talk we did. It was a great time and of course we ran over time as well. We even managed to raise money for the Leukemia Research Fund! Surprise! Surprise! It was concluded by all, that a Good time was had!! Between Phil, Brian and myself, we raised about $7, 000 this year! Of course, we couldn’t have done it without your help, so THANK-YOU to ALL that Contributed!
