FUNDRAISER UPDATE

________________________________________________________

Important Note to all those who attended the Support Dave (fundraiser event)
I have been informed that although Gary was in charge of taking pictures of the Sept. 5th event, only six pictures were taken. Truly a disappointment of such a memorable event.  So if any of you took any pictures and could forward them to us either over the internet or in developed form,  I would be very grateful. Please include your name on the back of the picture so we know to whom to give credit to and return the picture.  With better news, Sandra has come through for us. Sandra did a great job with the video camera.  I am pleased to say I have a copy of the tape in the  hospital. As soon as my VCR is hooked up, probably Tues., anyone who visits is welcome to watch it with me.

Dear Friends,

I would like to take this time to update you on the Sept. 5th event we called, " Show your support for Dave".  As you all know, we also linked this with a fundraiser event for The Leukemia Research Foundation.   This was arranged so that family and friends could show their support, as we (Emmy, Dave Jr, and I) enter into the final leg of our journey with the terminal disease I have been diagnosed with, Myelofibrosis.   I am scheduled for a Stem cell transplant on Oct. 3 and will be entering Princess Margaret Hospital Sept. 28.  If you thought it was scheduled earlier, you are correct.  Due to some concerns from my donor (my sister) the date was changed.

More than 85 friends showed up and all agreed that it was a very special time.   I was so surprised to see so many that had taken time out of their very hectic schedules to drive over 2.5 hrs. (one way) to show your support.   I am blessed to have such friends.   I am sorry that we (Emmy and I) showed up late, however, we had some  problems that arose while at PMH that needed to be resolved.  That sure did not take away from the moment, although, I must confess I was more than a little embarrassed with the standing ovation.  It sure was a thrill. Thanks!

I would be remiss if I did not Thank all that came out Sept. 5th, those that also gave a donation, as well as all of you from literally coast to coast that have sent in supportive, e-mails, letters, cards and donations.  The response has been overwhelming.  We have received support from as far West as Vancouver Island and far east as Halifax, Nova Scotia.  We have read each and every piece of encouraging word and are creating a wonderful scrap book from your notes.  We look  forward to reading them many times while in the hospital, as well as over the years to come.  They are truly inspirational!

Together we have all contributed in  making  this a more bearable time for my family and I.  We have also raised around an amazing  $ 15 000 for Leukemia Research.  Since the donations continue to roll in, this is not a final number.  We will continue to update this as it increases.

My family and I are truly blessed to have so much support and encouragement from so many friends.

God Bless,

Dave,  Emmy,  and Dave Jr.

ps Gary was in charge of taking pictures of the event and Sandra took the video.  Stay tune for some, no doubt great pictures from Gary.  We will post them as soon as we get them.  If you want to see the video, however, you'll just have to visit me in the hospital!!
